Marino Vanhoenacker: Ironman Malaysia plus 5 days...

von Marino Vanhoenacker, am 05.03.2010
Day 1: short swim
Day 2: short bike
Day 3: very very short and still painfull run
Day 4: travel
And today I start to feel a little better although the clock is still a little bit leaning towards Malaysian time.

Looking back at the period before the race, I have to say I had smoother preparations, longer ones, but in the end the result was superb, which doesn’t mean I can forget the small setbacks - I have to learn lessons from them.

One big lesson is: Make sure you can train enough and this one for me was really on the edge with the winter we had. One 3 week training camp, sick before the camp, and sick between the camp and the race and of course sick after the race, the cold weather affected my immune system quite drastically I guess, so now it's time to build a stronger wall to block off the little monsters who make us sick.

The Race itself went to perfection in the so feared typical Malaysian climate conditions. I got my quali for Hawaii - Now I can go into the rest of the season with a good feeling and an Ironman under my belt...

Greetings from (cold) sunny Belgium
